Friday, February 23, 2024 –Economist David Ndii has, for the first time, broken silence over his health following public concerns that surfaced this week.
The President William Ruto’s official economic advisor, while responding to trolls who were on his neck on Thursday February 23 when he was attending their Naivasha National Executive Retreat that was graced by the head of State and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, has called out the Twitter community for their disrespect.
Social media was on Thursday awash with a photo in which Dr. Ndii, in the company of President William Ruto, deputy Rigtahi Gachagua and some other leaders. The photo showed Ndii in an oversize belly hence triggering a discussion over his state of health.
But in his hard-hitting response seen on Friday Morning, the vocal economist told off those who had ridiculed him adding that, being an overweight is something that can be reversed easily than being an ‘imbecile’.
He wondered why Kenyans would focus too much of their energy on something that is of no value to them.
“To be overweight is a remediable personal challenge of little or no consequence to the general public. To be empty-headed is an incurable societal burden.
“Ũrimũ ndũrĩ ndawa (stupidity has no cure). To have so many imbeciles with nothing better to talk on a public platform is a national tragedy,” he noted in his response.
The economist was part of the top executive team that comprises cabinet secretaries and principal secretaries who were camping in Naivasha Town for a three-day national retreat to deliberate on what they had achieved and what they ought to achieve.
President Ruto used most of the time to highlight what his Cabinet members should be doing as well as Members of Parliament.
He warned them against acts of corruption in government office saying, each one of them will be held squarely responsible for anything wrong in their respective dockets.
“We have a historic moment to take Kenya where it should be. This is our time to step forward and offer leadership. Through bold decisions, we will transform our country,” Ruto said.
The retreat also saw 47 governors from around the country also attend; among them Council of Governors CoG Chairlady Anne Waiguru, Kakamega’s Fernandes Barasa, Homa Bay’s Gladys Wanga, Murang’a governor Irungu Kangata among others.
