Wednesday, August 28, 2024 –Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua meeting with senators today has continued to fetch mixed reactions from various quarters.
Following his meeting in which he hosted elected and nominated senators from his backyard, leaders in the ruling coalition led by Chief Whip Boni Khalwale have read a hidden agenda in his plans.
In a statement issued on X today Wednesday August 28, the vocal Kakamega senator noted that Gachagua was now out to solidify the Mt. Kenya senators ahead of his looming impeachment.
“Today. A Deputy President, Rigathi, display of force and numbers in the Senate? 11 out of 47. Noted..” wrote Khalwale.
The second in command described his meeting with senators as development-focused and that he received important feedback from those who attended.
“Continuous engagement with elected leaders is a catalyst to development for our People. It is also the best forum for feedback on what our employers think and feel about our leadership”.
This engagement saw senators from eleven counties gather in his office to audit the success of Devolution in their respective counties.
