Friday, July 26, 2024 ––Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has slammed a section of individuals whom he claims took advantage of the recent protests to demean his office.
Speaking in a burial event of the late Mama Susan, DP Gachagua said those who took advantage of the recent Gen Zs chaos to settle political scores with those who they didn’t agree with are ‘idiots’.
“Those who took the whole advantage to settle political scores with those who don’t agree with them or those who think otherwise are even more idiotic. Especially, those trying to apportion blame,” said the DP.
He seized the opportunity to urge Mt. Kenya Region to remain united with other parts of the country so that to maintain peace across.
Mr. Gachagua took issue with looters in the Gen Zs countrywide protests saying this should not repeat even as the democratic space remains guarded by law.
“Let us all remain united as a country. We have gone through a very difficult period. Those who took advantage to steal, loot, maim and kill innocent lives are idiots,” angrily noted Mr. Gachagua.
He announced that Kenya has come a long way and her people are also very intelligent to tell what is wrong and what is right.
He, therefore, called upon all elected leaders to also learn to respect the voters whom he described as no longer foolish.
“Ordinary Kenyans are ahead of us leaders. They know many things. They see and can interpret everything we do. Let’s respect those people,” further remarked Gachagua.
Speaking about the latest cabinet shakeup, Gachagua indicated that his Mt. region had not lost in the purge but, instead, was added another important position.
“Commentators and analysts have talked about gains and losses ..who won who lost but all these things are a win to the people of Kenya. This region we are happy that we have added our numbers in government,” commended the DP.
Present in the burial were CS nominees, Hon S. Tuya, R. Miano, Hon A. Wahome, Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu, his Deputy Reuben Kamuri, MP Hon Karani Wachira, former CS Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u, Hon MCAs led by Nanyuki Ward Rep Anthony Theuri, the Clergy, among others.
