Friday, July 26, 2024 ––Azimio co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has re-affirmed his unwillingness to join government of President William Ruto.
Speaking today in a local event, the former Vice President stated that his conscience doesn’t allow him to join such a government that is dishonest and disjointed in the eyes of the public.
The ex-VP noted that joining hands with Ruto will derail his plans to contest against this government in 2027.
“So they think I am a fool to join them at this time? Let me tell you that even Ruto himself knows that Kalonzo will be his fierce competitor in the next elections,” Kalonzo revealed.
Defiant Musyoka accused President William Ruto of an alleged plan to nominate a section of Kenya Kwanza politicians as commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Speaking in Nyeri County, Kalonzo claimed to have received reports of plans by the president to buy off some of the politicians affiliated with opposition parties.
According to Kalonzo, the bribed Azimio coalition politicians would then be compelled by the president to approve the IEBC commissioners who will be mandated to to decide who becomes what in the next general election.
The Wiper Party leader, while expressing his displeasure by Ruto’s alleged scheme, vowed to reject commissioners who would be nominated through an unjustified manner.
He threatened to go to the court to stop such an undemocratic exercise that could plunge the nation into another post-election chaos.
“We will not accept, they are bribing people in Azimio to ensure those who will be chosen as commissioners are from Kenya Kwanza,” he added.
The former vice president also dismissed claims of accepting Ruto’s lucrative offer to become Kenya’s next attorney general.
Musyoka speaking this even as his Azimio principal Raila Odinga let a section of key ODM Party members to take appointments in the current administration.
Among those who have been nominated in the new-look Cabinet are ODM Party Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi, Chairman John Mbadi, Deputy party leaders Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya.
