Friday, August 9, 2024 –Narc-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua and Opposition leader Raila Odinga today visited billionaire Jimi Wanjigi following police raid at his lavish Muthaiga homestead.
Martha Karua was seen confronting the armed and hooded police officers who were standing right at the gate of the businessman all night long.
On her arrival, she walked straight to them accompanied by a few journalists and asked them (police) to vacate the home if they do not have a valid active court order.
Karua threatened to take a court action on individual cops who were around eight and who were armed and hooded.
“I expect you to leave this home. Or else I will sue you individually. We leave you to consult each other but, in the meantime, we expect you to come back with a court order,” she was heard saying.
Moments later, Azimio leader Raila Odinga also joined the scene where he was ushered inside the broken home.
Eerlier, from photos and videos, police were captured forcefully breaking into Mr. Wanjigi home where they finally managed to gain access.
The family would later report the brutality meted on them by the law enforcers who had been deployed at the home.
“They forcefully kicked down the door. They hit us and abused us.” Jimi Wanjigi’s daughter Wambui recalled her ordeal under the hands of the police.
The police then towed one of his cars in which they claimed to have found unlicensed grenades and guns which they claimed were part of the arson the billionaire was donating to the anti-government protesters.
“We intercepted a personal motor vehicle at the residence of Jimi Wanjigi and, in the vehicle, we recovered assorted arson and investigators are on the ground to gather more details,” new police IG announced.
Wanjigi is not new to police raids at his home, every regime has had friction with the billionaire in what many attribute to business deals.
