Deputy President William Samoei Ruto is on the receiving end as his top ally turn guns against him accusing him of having lured them to voting Jubilee.
Kapsaret legislator Oscar Sudi has led a group of Tangatanga MPs in bashing Dr. Ruto for persuading them to support Uhuru Kenyatta’s presidency saying Ruto had told them Kenyatta was his true friend when in real sense he wasn’t.
Mr. Sudi who was reacting to the latest arrest of senators Christopher Langat of Bomet, Steve Lelegwe of Samburu and Cleophas Malala of Kakamega, referred to Uhuru as a witch hunter.
The vocal Kapsaret lawmaker was speaking this on Monday August 17 saying they wasted their energy and time campaigning for a man who they never knew would, after rising to power, turn against his own children and eat them one after another.
“I regret voting for Uhuru Kenyatta. I didn’t know his true colours. But I blame William Ruto because he convinced some of us that Uhuru was his true friend. Anyway, May God protect Kenyans,” Sudi regretted through his social media posts.
But even as his allies are haunted down fir the choices, Ruto is yet to utter any single word against Mr. Kenyatta what his former friend ex CS Rashid Echasa also wondered and condemned as to why the DP would choose to remain silent amid such ruthless witchhunt.
The former state official and longtime Ruto ally was reacting to leadership changes which were undertaken in both houses and which saw most of Ruto allies removed without decorum
“I am sure if Mr Ruto had pleaded with the President, Mr Washiali would have survived the axe,” Echesa said.
“There has been talk about Mr Atwoli and Oparanya pushing for the changes, but I never saw them at State House,” he added.
New Senate Chief Whip Irungu Kangata who was recently picked by Jubilee top brass in the place of Senator Susan Kihika, however, blamed the ongoing wrangles in the Senate on leaders from Rift Valley saying their only aim was to undermine Uhuru’s administration
“Some counties in the Rift Valley who are the biggest beneficiaries of the revenue formula, their senators are opposing it despite the fact that they are gaining millions. They are from a region of a certain politician. Despite being the biggest gainers, they are no longer supporting the new formula. Somebody may have called them,” Kang’ata stated on Monday, August 17.
The Senate has since formed a 12 man committee to create and harmonise an acceptable revenue formula after failing for a record 9th time.
