Wednesday, June 23, 2021 -A Jubilee Nominated Member of Parliament has staged a war with Raila Odinga over academic qualifications.
Reports reaching Homenews.co.ke indicate that MP David Ole Sankok has given the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC an ultimatum to clarify on how they have been clearing Mr. Odinga to vie for Presidency.
Under the 2010 Constitution, for anyone to be allowed to run for presidency, she or he must have graduated from a recognized University. Sankok however opines that Odianga’s Collegelife in shrouded in mystery and this ought to be looked into before 2022.
Speaking last Wednesday, Sankok cautioned Raila saying he risks being barred to vie for any elective seat should IEBC start implementing the law of Degree qualifications.
“Raila faces the risk of being locked out from the next presidential elections should the law on degrees take effect because he has no known classmate, be it in primary, secondary, or even in the university,” Sankok said.
He added that there have been rumours that Odinga schooled with Nigerian Olesegun Obasanjo in a school abroad but it has been hard to find Mr. Obasanjo to shed light on this.
”We suspect that Raila might have schooled with Obasanjo while they were abroad. But again, finding Obasanjo to shed light on this particular matter is going to be difficult,” Sankok told journalists.
Sanko argued that a section of Kenyans know that Odinga did a welding course but he keeps saying he is an engineer.
“We don’t know the course that Raila pursued. I hear some people claim that he pursued a course in welding, but he keeps saying that he is an engineer. So, we don’t want our worthy opponent to be locked out from the polls,” the MP, who belongs to the Tanga Tanga faction of Jubilee noted.
He now wants Odinga to come clear on which cause he took and from which school so that the debate about this is settled for once.
