Monday, April 19, 2021 -The strained relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto started immediately the latter referred to the president as a ‘drunk man’.
During the burial of Mark Too in 2017 at the height of Re-election campaigns, Ruto was reportedly on record telling his Kalenjin community through their native language that they should vote Jubilee into power because the government is run by him and not Uhuru whom he referred to as drunkard.
According to Mr. Murathe’s Sunday Interview on Inooro Tv, that speech alone was so disparaging to the person and office of the president what might have made Uhuru start doubting Ruto’s intentions.
“There is a day Ruto spoke in his native language and told his supporters to vote for Uhuru because as he drinks, I(Ruto) will be running the government,” Murathe revealed.
He added that there is no way government will fail, through intelligence, to notice those most ignored speeches made by their officers anywhere.
“It was during the funeral of the late Mark Too. The government always has a way of knowing some of these things. I suspect that was one of the reason Uhuru decided to sideline Ruto,” added Murathe.
The Jubilee Vic e chairman-also-Uhuru’s close ally accused the DP of making wild and insulting statements during his Thursday interview on Citizen Tv that Jubilee Party is run by people who are ‘hardly sober’.
“He should stop hiding behind us (officials). He is the deputy party leader and above him is the party leader, there are a number of officials who are above me so when he insults people like Murathe, how can a vice chairman be calling the shots? those insults are directed at someone else,” Murathe argued.
On being sought for some a response to Murathe’s claims, a source from Ruto camp said they don’t have time to respond to every issue raised by Mr. Murathe.
“We have serious priorities as hustler nation, the cabal that is ever drunk is not one of them,” the source told one of the local news sites.
Murathe, in his interview, also referred to a day Kipchumba Murkomen continued insulting him on TV as a man who must first drink to appear on TV.
“I was very tired and had a glass of water and Murkomen alleged it was alcohol. They revert to insults when they are unable to debate and that is why I told him to join me in drinking,” Murathe recounted.
Speaking about disrespecting Uhuru, the DP during his sit down interview with Linus Kakai last Thursday, claimed that he was forced to confront his boss Uhuru Kenyatta in the presence of NIS boss to provide any evidence in any form that could prove he was not respectful and a loyal principal assistant.
