Friday, April 23, 2021 -Governor Okoth Obado has started decampaigning Raila Odinga in Nyanza Region saying time has reached when a change must be forced.
In his latest interview with one of the local dailies last Wednesday April 21, Mr. Obado said he will be vying for the top seat in 2022 and urged his supporters to push him through.
He added that gone are days when adults were told what to do and that in politics it is even worse for anyone to force the other to follow a certain course.
The controversial Migori County Governor further mentioned how he believes he has what it takes to lead the region and the country if elected as the next president of the Republic of Kenya.
And while responding to those who think he will be dividing Odinga’s votes, he said no one can claim full ownership of votes in their area but that decision will come from Kenyans.
“Mimi ni Mtu Mzima na niko na Haki kama mwanakenya kuunga mrengo wowote ule wa Kisiasa. Wacha nikwambie ya kwamba wakati umefika wa kutenda ambalo royo yangu inataka. Hii mambo ya kuambiwa “we will impeach you”, haina maana. Niko na Uhakika ya kwamba 2022 tutapimana nguvu na wao,” Obado said.
Sources who reached to this desk claimed that the threat from Obado was being informed by the fact that ODM leadership has been hell-bent on using intimidation tactics against him what he must fight back.
It is claimed that the ODM Party leadership has been frustrating the governor with threats to revive old court cases alongside his Impeachment Bill.
Should Mr. Obado vie in 2022, this will be the first time Nyanza region will be fielding two candidates in a Presidential race.
