Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party will be using Omar Boga to race the Msambweni Constituency by-election.
Details reaching Homenes.co.ke desk on the evening of Thursday October 1st indicated that Mr. Boga had garnered a total of 6,183 votes against his close rival Nicholas Zani who got 530 votes.
The primaries have now set the stage for another battle of titans where ODM will now be facing off with Ruto’s candidate who will be an independent nominee.
DP Ruto with his fellow disgruntled voices will definitely be supporting an independent candidate in the by-lection scheduled soon.
Speaking on the primaries, Kwale ODM Party Chairman Hassan Mwanyoha who is also the former Matuga MP, had stated that their party will have to ensure a free and fair nominations to be able to run away with victory.
“We are prepared to ensure credible exercise because our target is to clinch the seat as it belongs to ODM,” he said adding that they obviously expected peace during the process.
The Msambweni seat fell vacant after MP Suleiman Dori died in March while at Aga Khan facility in Mombasa.
A section of sources from Msambweni Polling Station divulged that, in some polling stations, voting materials arrived too late.
Ms Smakena Matano, for instance, told Homenes.co.ke news desk that though she arrived at 6.30 AM, the voting kicked off later-on in the morning. “I’m still waiting for the voting materials to vote,” she said.
Boga must now start preparing himself well to face off with a well-oiled independent candidate who will have a full backing of the DP William Ruto.
