Tuesday, September 17, 2024 –Parliament Joint Committee has approved the nomination of Douglas Kanja Kirocho as the next Inspector General of Police.
Barring any calamity, he could be sworn in as early as Thursday taking over from sacked Japhet Koome who had paved way for embattled Gilbert Masengeli.
Mr. Masengeli is facing a myriad of challenges including contempt of court after skipping court sessions more than seven times.
Masengeli was required to show up before the court to explain the disappearance of Kitengela three brothers who were kidnapped at the height of the last Gen Z anti-government demonstrations.
