A man said to have attempted to breach protocol with an aim that was not quite clear ended up being roughed up by the Deputy President’s security detail.
Eyewitness reported how the unidentified man attempted to attack the deputy president who was on a tour in Murang’a today Friday October 30th. This happened when the DP and his team were leaving Rurii Stadium in Mathioya.
The Standard Digital of Friday October 30th published a series of photos which showed the man walking directly towards DP Ruto, engaged him in a bad way before he was confronted by the security.
Sources further told the publication that the suspect lifted his hand in a manner that showed he was about to harm the DP before he was quickly neutralized.
On the other hand, Ruto appeared to take a step back, smiled at the man when his security swung in with speed.
But reacting to the scene, Communication Director David Mugonyi observed that the reports flying around were not true.
“Deputy President had earlier on been presented with chicken by an elderly woman and the man was following suit with a gift of tea leaves but was stopped by the bodyguards who did not know what he was up to and was later released,” Mugonyi told the Standard.
He maintained that there was nothing like attacking the deputy president during his tours.
