Orange Democratic Movement Party ODM has termed Raila Odinga’s son Raila Junior as a nobody in the party and that his words should be ignored by Kenyans.
Through Chairman John Mbadi, ODM mentioned that any sentiment from such a man means nothing to them since he was just an ODM supporter just like any other villager.
Junior recently made controversial remarks that seemed to demean a section of party leaders accusing them of not sticking to party’s philosophy.
Among the right hand men of his father who he slammed through the tweet included vocal Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and Suna East MP Junet Mohammed both who he said were busy dividing the country instead of supporting unity and development.
Junior’s statement was informed by a move from Governor Joho who over the weekend accused DP William Ruto of early campaigns and flaunting his wealth in the name of philanthropy.
And speaking on Citizen Tv’s Tuesday news of Sept 15th, Chairman John Mbadi reminded his Kikuyu Constituency counterpart Kimani Ichung’wah that Mr. Junior was a nobody and he ought to be treated with the contempt he deserves.
“I have to be clear that Raila Junior is not an ODM member nor does he hold any position in the party. He is merely Raila’s son. I don’t know why his comments would be used to spell the position of ODM,” Mbadi noted adding that the only Raila who can be listened to was Raila Odinga who is their party boss.
“The party’s position is spelt out by the ODM leader. If Raila Junior made such remarks then that is his democratic right. Furthermore, he always makes such contrary remarks and I believe he is entitled to his own opinion,” Mbadi responded during the heated debate.
This made Junior to quickly go back to his twitter account with an apology to party’s top brass saying his remarks were blown out of proportion and targeted no one in particular.
“As an ordinary ODM member, my views are my own and not that of party. I am grateful to ODM for availing democratic space in which different views and opinions are expressed. My views were not targeting any leaders and I apologize for any misunderstanding caused,” he tweeted on Wednesday.
Junior’s controversial tweet appeared to be praising William Ruto’s daily church visits and donations which have been termed, not once, by his father Raila Odinga as unfortunate and hypocritical.
