Saturday, August 31, 2024 –President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua today Saturday pitched camp in Kisumu where they were received well by opposition supporters.
In a video and photos Kenyawide.com received on the news desk, the two leaders could be seen in the middle of Kondele Town addressing residents who had come in droves.
Ruto and Gachagua were equally shocked and excited to see the huge turnout never seen before especially in the area where they were unwelcome in 2022.
“We will support our rice farmers through value addition so that they can produce more, earn more and feed more Kenyans,” announced Ruto as Gachagua introduced himself as the man from the Mountain.
President Ruto was in the company of Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, Cabinet Secretaries, Governors, MPs and MCAs, etc.
The president also commissioned the Lake Basin Development Authority Rice Mill Project in Kibos, Kisumu County.
The plant, with a processing capacity of 4,000 tonnes an hour, will promote rice cultivation in the more than 6,000 acres in Chiga, East Kano, and West Kano schemes, supporting more than 10,000 households.
Earlier, the head of State broke ground for the Lake Victoria Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre that will improve maritime safety and further fishing in the region.
