Wednesday, September 18, 2024 –President William Ruto has advised the National Police Service NPS and the Judiciary to work together in enforcing law and order.

Ruto argued that, though, the two – NPS and the judiciary – are independent, they cannot work separately if they need to achieve anything.

“I am acutely aware that the National Police Service is an independent and so is the Judiciary but ultimately we have one master, the people of Kenya,” Ruto said.

The commander-in-chief noted further that any country can only realise its full potential and democracy when departments support and respect each other.

“I want to ask all of us to work together selflessly for the good of the nation. We must make sure we work together towards serving Kenyans,” he added.

Besides addressing the tiff between the Judiciary and the Police Service, Ruto also called on other government agencies to exercise more collaboration and create a balanced relationship disclosing that his government would do everything possible to protect the rule of law as well as the independence of arms of government as required by law.

This statement coming at the time Chief Justice Martha Koome accused Acting IG Gilbert Masengeli of undermining the by ignoring court orders.

Addressing the media on September 16, CJ Koome termed it retrogressive to withdraw security for any Judge over court matters that are either decided or not.
