Sunday, July 21, 2024 –President William Ruto has now issued an ultimatum to young Kenyans who have been protesting against his governance.
Addressing the ongoing protests from Bomet County today Sunday July 21, Ruto said he is now done with calling for talks and warned anyone funding or thinking about holding onto the protests that he will deal with such people firmly so that to protect the country from destruction.
President Ruto mentioned that he had given everyone a chance to speak to him; what they think but most of those called upon squandered the golden opportunity; what he has said cannot go on again.
“I gave them every opportunity including the X platform. I also dropped the Finance Bill thinking they will bow down but it seems they are determined to go on with their evil plot. Enough is enough,” he charged.
Dr. Ruto noted that a country cannot go on with noise and threats from faceless young people who have no defined leadership structure.
He vowed to deal with such elements whom he accused of being funded by international organisations to distabilise his two-year old administration.
He spoke this even as the opposition leader Raila Odinga who is in Dubai changed his mind on dialogue.
Odinga issued a number of demands to be met first before sitting down with the president for any kind of talks.
The ODM Party leader noted that he takes serious issues raised by the young men and women in the country and their concerns must be addressed urgently.
Odinga saying this amid cracks in his Azimio la Umoja camp where constituent party leaders want him out of talks with the current regime.
Reports have it that Odinga’s ODM Party has been promised seven cabinet positions which it is willing to donate two of them to the Wiper and DAP-Kenya parties.
