Anyone in his rightful mind would be asking, why would this character called SADC be so confused not to have prepared their candidate early enough for the African Union Commission AUC election?
Why, actually, make a sudden announcement just five days to the election asking the member States to throw weight behind their own? If this is not lack of preparation on its part or an after thought, then what is?
To bring things into the correct perspective, let me say that SADC seems like it did not have the right man to support for this prestigious election. The current candidate, seemingly, was proposed by only one or two presidents from that Region against the wishes of all SADC members. Meaning no goodwill.
It, therefore, simply means, trying to tell member States to support their candidate will not have much bearing and impact in this particular election. Maybe next. It’s a case of too late too little. Even the heads of States from that part of the world will not like such kind of poor mobilization.
On the other hand, Raila Odinga has been on the ground, sea and water doing one-on-one meetings and campaigns with almost any president he could meet.
Together with Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and President William Ruto, they have managed to mobilize a crowd of leaders who will definitely vote a Kenyan. Their intensified campaign will not go unnoticed.
Of the three candidates, Raila has been visible enough. That we give it to him. Chances of him Losing the race are not there. But even if he loses, be sure he will come number two with a very small gap of two or three votes.
To bring the matter to perspective, Kenya has done what it could to clinch the seat.
