Wednesday, August 31, 2022 –Lawyer James Orengo has told the court that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC had refused to open servers as directed by the Supreme Court yesterday.
In his interjection address on the floor of the court on Wednesday August 31 afternoon, Lawyer Orengo noted that, despite having a supervised access orders to IEBC servers, staff there had started playing games and blocking them from the full exercise.
He went ahead to allege that certain officials based at the IEBC headquarters at the Anniversary Towers had denied them entry saying they still needed full permission from their boss, Mr. Chebukati.
“My lady Chief Justice and members of the court, we are also having difficulties with the orders relating to the inspection of the servers. We have been given restricted access only to the results transmission system. It is established that IEBC has eight servers yet we have access to one only.
“We have written to the registrar of the court in the hope that this court solves this matter as quickly as possible,” Orengo complained to the court.
But to give him some hope, Justice Isaac Lenaola told the lawyer that there was some progress on the exercise and should it be found that IEBC was not willing, the court will make an urgent follow up directive.
