Wednesday, June 12, 2024 –Government has agreed with the demands of the fourth president of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, to Gazzete his Dennis Pritt-based office as his official working space.

In a Tuesday meeting with President Ruto, Uhuru made the demand to the government despite efforts by the State to send him to Nyali where the late Mwai Kibaki used to have an office after his retire.

Uhuru and Ruto had a long phone call on Tuesday June11 following claims by the latter that his office was facing frustrations from the State.

Uhuru, through Kanze Dena, accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of not releasing their dues and privileges as required in law.

Appearing on Citizen Tv on Tuesday night hosted by Yvonne Okwara, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria reported that Uhuru managed to secure his residence on Nairobi’s Dennis Pritt Road Kilimani as his new official offices. The premises is known by the name Caledonia and will now be Gazetted as the official working space for the former president.

“The home of the retired president is now going to be a gazetted government office, and that is not ordinary. In our understanding, we had done everything according to the Act, but the President, in his wisdom, said he didn’t want this issue to go out of hand,” CS Kuria told Citizen TV on Tuesday.

This decision by KK government follows a war of words between the government and Mr. Kenyatta over the Retired President Benefits Act as enshrined in the Constitution.

Furthermore, CS Kuria revealed that Mr. Kenyatta also demanded over 40 security officers saying what he has is not enough.

“He (Uhuru) felt that the 40 policemen guarding him are not enough and it was agreed that he determines whether it is 50, 60, or even 80,” CS Kuria claimed.

Kenyatta also asked for more security officers to man his vast estates around the country as well as asked for an additional support staff who will include Kanze Dena and George Kariuki – former spokesperson currently working as secretary of communication and secretary of administration, respectively.
