Monday, November 13, 2023 –Azimio la Umoja camp has threatened to return to maandamano to pile pressure on William Ruto’s administration to lower the cost of living.

The Raila Odinga-led outfit has poked holes into the way the Kenya Kwanza administration was running the country’s affairs.

They believe there is still too much graft as well as non-commitment to deal firmly and strategically with the biting cost of living.

“We as Azimio in line with our manifesto advocate for tax cuts, production stimulation, fiscal discipline, and realistic and sustainable debt management to tackle Kenya’s economic challenges. Urgent action is needed to seal corruption loopholes to stop the looting, nothing less,” Kalonzo’s statement read partly.

Kalonzo has also said that almost the entire world is now losing trust in this government due to lack of proper policies in place.

“There is a devastating loss of trust and confidence in our economy, our financial markets and our government. We are caught in a cycle where reduced spending power leads to loss of jobs which leads to even less spending; where people can’t borrow because rates charged are too high, yet lack of borrowing slows growth and leads to even less credit. Credible data, collected and published by the government, confirms all this grim news,” added Musyoka.

Meanwhile, on Weekend, Saturday November 11, Raila Odinga, together with other opposition bigwigs announced their party’s countrywide recruitment drive in order to rejuvenate the ODM muscles.

“ODM’s recruitment drive is in full swing. We launched it this afternoon in Siaya County, and the initiative is now extending to all counties across Kenya,” he noted.

This initiative will run until March next year, culminating in party elections from the grassroots. More details shall be availed in due course.
