Saturday, August 13, 2022 –Deputy President William Ruto has lost a whopping 10,000 votes erroneously added to his tally from Kiambu County alone.
In a confirmed report from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC tallying center at Bomas of Kenya, the 51,050 votes have been slashed down to 41,050.
IEBC amended 10,000 votes in Kiambu Town Constituency that was erroneously given to the DP; an error that was first flagged by a keen journalist.
This particular error was established in a through verification exercise of Forms 34A and 34B which had been submitted to the Commission at Bomas.
Details also revealed that Azimio la Umoja votes 14,860 had not been affected or touched negatively on the said forms.
After this correction, the final tally was announced by the IEBC commissioners as Odinga 14,860 votes, William Ruto 41,050 votes, Waihiga Mwaure 318 votes and George Wajackoyah 318 votes.
And breaking his silence for the first time since election started, DP William Ruto just thanked his team for a job well-done.
“Congratulations to all election winners. In particular, we celebrate the many women who have broken barriers to climb the political ladder. Best wishes as you embark on your new responsibilities. Hustlers are counting on you,” he wrote.
Wafula Chebukati is supposed to deliver a ruling on who won the presidential race by Tuesday next week.
