Sunday, June 16, 2024 –Confusion has continued to rock the ruling party United Democratic Alliance as leaders within it loudly read on different scripts.

Founding Chairman Johnson Muthama, being the latest to hint at ditching the party he has been in for two years now after dumping Raila Odinga in 2022 for William Ruto.

Addressing on Friday June 14 when he joined the family of Hon. Joseph Munyao as he bid farewell to his wife Mama Agnes Mutete Munyao in Kalawa, Mbooni Constituency, Makueni County, Mr. Muthama touted president William Ruto of giving messenger jobs to people from Ukambani when other regions continue to enjoy the huge share of this government.

The former Machakos senator, while speaking in the burial service, said he is thinking about reuniting with region’s kingpin Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of the 2027 general election.

The vocal politician said, working with Kalonzo will soon galavanise their now scattered loyalty back to the region and make it possible for the region to scoop the 2027 presidential seat.

Muthama hit out at President William Ruto despite the two having been closest allies in the government of Kenya Kwanza.

Joining the bandwagon of leaders among them, DP Rigathi Gachagua, within the ruling party who seem dissatisfied with the Statehouse operatives, the former lawmaker pointed out, however, later on social media, that he is not yet decided to ditch Ruto.

He had said focusing on uniting their Lower Eastern part of the country is his next assignment with the help of Wiper Party boss Kalonzo Musyoka.

“As the founding chairman of United Democratic Alliance (UDA), I campaigned vigorously for the party to form government and I still hold allegiance to the ruling party. Despite being a loyal supporter of this administration, it doesn’t mean that anyone can deter me from championing the unity of my community and as I do that, it shouldn’t be misconstrued that I am leaving UDA or ceasing to support the President,” his statement read in full.

Muthama, who currently seats in the Parliamentary Service Commission PSC, spoke in his native Kamba language in the presence of Makunei Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-Kenya boss Eugene Wamalwa and several other leaders from Mt. Kenya and Lower Eastern parts.
