Friday, October 29, 2021 –Jubilee-ODM looming coalition has managed to reserve two names at the Registrar of Political Parties.
Making the confirmation on Friday October 29 afternoon, the registrar Anne Nderitu stated that the names – Azimio la Umoja and Alliance for Change – had all been reserved for registration by allies of both President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Suna East MP Junet Mohamed applied for the Azimio la Umoja coalition name according to the registrar’s letter of confirmation.
MP Junet, Raphael Tuju, David Murathe and Edwin Sifuna belong to the newly formed Jubilee-ODM coalition committee that is working day and night to make the coalition agenda a dream come true.
“Your application has been considered as required by law and the Azimio La Umoja has been reserved for use as political party coalition name,” Nderitu stated in a letter to Junet.
Details which have reached media show that Uhuru’s team came up with the Alliance for Change which, unfortunately, could have legal issues due to similarities with other existing names.
The registrar, nonetheless, will be giving further directives on the English name so that Uhuru and Raila could finally agree on which coalition name their team will use to contest in the general elections.
