Tuesday, April 4, 2023 –President William Ruto has left the country for an official visit to Rwanda.
Homenews.co.ke has learnt that the head of State took a flight on Tuesday April 4 morning to Rwanda following an official invitation by the hosting president, Paul Kagame.
Statehouse Spokesperson, Hussein Mohamed, said the two Heads of State are expected to deliberate on areas of mutual interest and cooperation including the Northern Corridor and Integration projects.
Moreover, Hussein divulged that the duo will discuss innovation, food security, health, and education in Africa among others.
Another key issue to be discussed includes ways of enhancing trade and commerce within the two countries as part of the East Africa Community EAC and the entire continent at large.
“The visit is further expected to enhance trade and commerce cooperation within the East Africa Community EAC and the African continent, as the two leaders re-affirm their commitment to EAC integration and the Africa Continental Free Trade Area ACFTA cooperation for trade and economic growth,” the statement read in part.
The Statehouse added that regional peace and security will also feature in the discussions before the two heads of State sign a bilateral agreement.
Ruto’s tour to Rwanda is coming just hours after sealing an oral deal between him and the opposition leader, Raila Odinga, who has since, temporarily, halted public protests against the government.
