Tuesday, August 13, 2024 –Opposition leader Raila Odinga has exposed individuals who have been pushing him for job in William Ruto government.
Speaking during the burial of Irene Masit’s father, Chirchir Masit, today Tuesday August 13, the opposition leader has recounted how people his age have been bombarding him with calls and papers seeking appointment in government.
Contrasting Kenya and Rwanda, Odinga said, with the latter, women are doing well in various professions when in Kenya old men are walking around looking for government positions.
Raila said he doesn’t have a coalition agreement with Ruto and that it is difficult for him to help anyone get appointed.
“They come to me seeking jobs. My agemates coming to me looking for jobs. Why can’t they bring their sons and daughters so that they can get these jobs.
“I am not in government. We never agreed with Ruto that we should have a coalition government. He requested me to help him identify people from my side to serve in his administration. I did exactly that. I am confident we shall move forward as a nation,” Odinga lamented.
The Azimio leader wondered what President William Ruto is currently going through because of what is happening to him(Raila) currently.
“If they are all over me looking for jobs, I wonder what Ruto is going through at his level?” posed Odinga.
The Azimio la Umoja boss also disclosed his recent phone call with former President Uhuru Kenyatta who encouraged him to meet President Ruto and help calm the rising tension in the country.
“When the country was in turmoil, former President Kenyatta asked me to reach out to President Ruto about the concerns of Gen Z and Kenyans in general. While I am running for the AUC chairperson’s position, my priority remains stabilizing my home country for future generations”.
Raila said, Mr. Kenyatta made an urgent phone call to him requesting that he meets Ruto so that to listen and make peace with the young men and women in the country.
