Sunday, March 5, 2023 –Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua continued taking a swipe at each other in public.
Sakaja started the discussion by asking DP Gachagua not to focus his leadership around Mt Kenya Region only but take it around the country because he is beyond one region now.
“Don’t just mentor the Mount Kenya region. As the Deputy President, mentor all the youths of the Republic of Kenya. Don’t be limited, you’re bigger than just Central Province,” Governor Sakaja to DP Gachagua.
It saw Gachagua fire back at the Nairobi governor and reminded him that UDA Party top leadership is busy mentoring everybody from any part of the country.
“We shall mentor young leaders from all across the country. You can see we have mentored Malala and many others who Raila could not allow to thrive in ODM,” DP Rigathi Gachagua said adding that Sakaja himself is a product of good mentorship.
He also used the opportunity to promise the country that he will soon name individuals who looted public coffers two days to the last general election.
“In the next few days, I will be releasing details of billions of shillings looted from public coffers in the last 3 months of the Uhuru administration, and announce CSs and PSs responsible so that Kenyans can know,” he threatened.
On his behalf, Sakaja reignited the debate of bad blood between him and the deputy president saying this was a creation of haters and certain media stations.
“There are people who have tried to say that there’s a problem between myself and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Being Kenya’s DP is not a joke; he is my boss and mentor. We will work together because we have an agenda in Kenya Kwanza,” Sakaja stated.
He, however, warned the current regime against continuous politicking as Kenyans continue to suffer in drought and hunger.
“Kenyans are tired of politics. I will not allow the lives and businesses of our people to be endangered because of protests. Kenya will stay as one country,” said Sakaja.
The two leaders among others were addressing congregants at the Jesus Winners Ministry in Roysambu Constituency, Nairobi County on Sunday March 5.
