Thursday, March 23, 2023 –Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has asked Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to change his conduct for peace to prevail in the country.
Speaking to the Standard in Kakamega today Thursday March 23, the Kakamega’s second-in-command, Savula, appeared to castigate the DP for chest-thumbing at the time the country direly requires leadership.
Savula who appeared to have shifted any blame from President Ruto, said Gachagua was behaving like a politician who was still in campaign mood.
“I am happy the president has toned down. If you look at his body language during swearing in ceremony of solicitor general, the president has really toned down,” he highlighted.
He added that the only problem remaining is Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who is busy insulting millions of Odinga’s supporters hence triggering the ongoing demonstrations.
“The Problem we have is emanating from one person called Rigathi Gachagua.
“Stop chest-thumbing. After an election, you unite the country. Odinga has supporters same to Ruto both who need respect,” he explained.
He wondered how a sworn-in deputy president could continue fighting election losers as if they are lesser beings in the society.
“Once you win the presidency you start to unite the country. How can a deputy president call government a company? What happens to the rest of the tax payers across the country,” he posed.
Miles away in Nairobi, Gachagua continued attacking the opposition side which he described as a group of persons who want to blackmail the government for their own selfish interests.
He went ahead to warn the clergies not to pressure the president into Handshake formations like the one that happened during the Uhuru Kenyatta’s time.
But even as he claimed this, Mr. Odinga, in a separate press briefing, maintained his stand that he cannot go into a Handshake with an illegitimate administration.
