Thursday, March 9, 2023 –Opposition leader Raila Odinga is highly anticipated to cause unrest around the city in demand of low cost of living.
Raila gave President William Ruto only two weeks – what he termed a14-day ultimatum – to address the high cost of living affecting the country or face countrywide never-seen before mass action from supporters.
And today Thursday March 9, the fearless opposition honcho will be back on the streets with his charges to pile pressure on the State to address his demands.
“It is now or never,” he said.
Yesterday Wednesday March 8, Azimio la Umoja leaders led by ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, criticised the government for shifting timelines when it comes to the implementation of Ruto’s campaign agenda especially on issues to do with the high cost of living.
“We want answers and if they do not come in the next few days, we will have no option but to lead our supporters into their offices for answers.
“We will follow these officers anywhere and everywhere for answers and not warnings,” said Azimio in a statement signed by Sec Gen. Sifuna and five other legislators.
With Azimio insisting that President William Ruto has failed to honour all the promises he made on the campaign trail, the faction added that Kenyans are being lied to and taken round in circles and blame games.
“William Ruto never tires of telling us how President Uhuru Kenyatta ruined the country. It does not seem to matter that Ruto was Deputy President that entire period. It doesn’t seem to occur to him that he found the State House budget pegged at sh 4 billion which he increased to sh 9 billion,”.
“He has introduced offices hitherto unheard of in public service including prayer warriors, office of the first daughter and office of the spouse of the Prime CS. Rigathi Gachagua keeps threatening to name top officials in Uhuru Kenyatta’s government who looted the country,” Sifuna read further.
Already, President Ruto, in anticipation of chaos, has dispatched police officers to man all roads leading to State lodges around the country same to the Statehouse, Nairobi.
