Tuesday, March 28, 2023 – United States of America has issued a safety alert to its citizens living in Nairobi and Kisumu.
The Embassy has today Tuesday March 28 delivered safety caution to their citizens warning them against the ongoing countrywide anti-government demonstrations that could take place weekly for an indefinite period of time.
“Media have reported calls for countrywide demonstrations that could take place weekly on Mondays and Thursdays for an indefinite period,” the alert states.
The US want its people to avoid protest hotspots and stay updated on the protest levels in the country through the media.
“Avoid crowds, keep a low profile and notify friends and family of your safety. Beware of your surroundings and review your security plans,” the alert adds.
Daily Nation, further, reported that, American nationals have also been advised to remain alert in areas frequented by terrorists, keep their travel documents updated and carry proper identification documents including their passports and current Kenyan VISAS and put in place evacuation plans.
While Ruto has claimed that the Azimio protests has nothing to do with the cost of living, Raila, on the other hand, maintains that the cost of living is unbearable and wants the illegitimate regime to pave way.
He also blames both the president and his deputy for using excessive force in dealing with peaceful demonstrations
