Tuesday, April 12, 2022 –After many years of trying without much success, finally ex-Funyula Member of Parliament Paul Otuoma has won Orange Party ticket.
The win was announced on August 9 following a tight contest that pitted him against area Woman Representative, Florence Mutua.
The politician, according to ODM nomination presiding/returning officer Charles Tips, managed to garner 49,330 votes against Mutua’s 30,696.
This announcement was made at Busia Agricultural Training Centre in Busia Town at the event also attended by Budalang’i MP Raphael Wanjala and his Funyula counterpart Wilberforce Mudenyo who were in full support of Otwoma.
The votes which gave these results were the final tally from the 7 sub-counties of Teso North, Teso South, Nambale, Butula, Matayos, Funyula and Budalang’I in Busia County.
This victory will see Mr. Otuoma take on Jubilee’s Lucas Meso, DAP Kenya’s Dan Mogoria, and Nambale MP John Bunyasi who is in Amani National Congress ANC Party of Musalia Mudavadi.
More reports indicate that Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi pulled out of the ODM primaries race for unknown reasons.
On the other hand, new comer Catherine Omanyo won the nominations for the position of Woman Representative in an exercise held at Acunet Stadium in Malaba.
Otuoma’s Monday win was reinforced by the fact that he technically banked on Teso North MP Arthur Odera who will be his running mate.
In his victory speech, a visibly happy Otuoma called on ODM Party supporters in the county to remain united and approach the August 9 polls as a family to make sure Raila Odinga wins the presidency, same to him.
