A Western Region Legislator now wants to hang boots after facing endless resistance from area youths.
Addressing a gathering which mainly comprised only young men shortly after reporting the weekend attack to police, Sabot MP Caleb Amisi appeared to rant nonstop about individuals being sponsored to destabilize his job as an MP.
The first term MP was allegedly attacked while launching an Administration Complex block at the Masinde Muliro Secondary School in Mt. Elgon.
“I would not have gone to the Police if I had not been beaten and roughed up. I was beaten and even injured.
“If beating me is what it means to be an MP then I can go back to my wife and children. I would rather resign in peace,” Amisi told part of the crowd.
He further observed that whoever was fueling animosity against him wants to blame him for not only failure but also underdevelopment when the next elections are announced.
“Every time I come to launch something in my constituency, I have to be countered by irate youth yet after 5 years, you will say I did not perform. I come to launch a school and youth beat me up and chase me away,” he complained.
The youthful MP further added that he had helped so many youth using whatever pay he receives as his salary but, despite that, he was still under attacks from the same individuals.
“I have helped so many youth around this constituency. I do this using my own salary many times but still you cannot appreciate,” he concluded.
This attack was orchestrated shortly after initiating a Building Bridges Imitative BBI Signature programme before he went to launch the Masinde Muliro Block. Video/Courtesy–
