A terrifying accident occurred at Kaburengu junction along busy Webuye-Eldoret road leaving atleast 10 people dead on the spot.
The Monday August 24th accident involved a truck that lost control ploughing into roadside traders before hitting a loading Nissan PSV.
Eyewitnesses said that the lorry was ferrying ballast from Webuye town headed to Eldoret when it suddenly experienced braking challenges hence losing control at the Kaburengu interchange point.
Our sources reported that among those who lost their lives in the 2PM incident is a lorry driver and a bodaboda rider.
Locals now want authorities to mark the hotspot and come up with a lasting solution so that to reduce such cases in the near future saying the area had become a notorious killer spot .
Sad pictorial was witnessed at the scene as bodies of mothers, children and men were seen scattered all over the road alongside their belongings.
Scores of those who were injured (14) were reportedly rushed to nearby facilities including Webuye Sub county Hospital while those who perished were taken to the morgue where their bodies are currently lying awaiting identification.
In December 2018, eleven people died on a Friday evening when a matatu and a petrol trailer collided at the same bloody spot. The Daily Nation reported.
Area Commandant Francis Sang confirmed the accident saying it was caused by failure of breaking system of the trailer.
