When Deputy President failed to show up at the Building Bridges Initiative BBI Signature launching at KICC, many said a lot.
On Thusrday morning, his Spokesperson Emmanuel Talam responded to claims that the DP had snubbed the event saying his boss was not invited.
“Ruto was not invited to the event, if anybody claims to have invited him, let him show you the invitation letter,” Talam mentioned.
During the event which was attended by those invited only, Ruto’s name was also not appearing anywhere on the program, according to the program paper seen by this desk.
“It is the event organizers who are supposed to tell you whether they invited him, not us explaining why we are not in attendance,” the spokesperson added.
Ruto has been so controversial on the BBI Report calling into question some issues he thinks were not well captured by the secretariat.
And after the Signature Drive event, Ruto who was supposed to also sign the document, tweeted asking for further discussions over the Final Report. His lieutenants also weighed into the matter in a similar way.
“Even with the signature launch, there is still a real chance at a consensus for a non-divisive referendum that will give Kenyans the opportunity to express themselves without us vs them, win vs lose contest.
“Unity is the strength needed to fight Covid-19 and organise the economy,” he stated.
Kenyatta and Odinga seized the opportunity to rally Kenyans behind the document asking for their supporters to pen their signatures so that to set stage for a Referendum early next year.
