Tuesday June 15, 2021 -Dawn fire razed Francis Atwoli’s road sign in Kileleshwa Nairobi on Tuesday.
Reporting on the incident, Dundapost.com claimed that by Monday evening, the sign was still intact in place and the action to vanadalise it had taken place at night on the wee hours of Tuesday.
This is not the first time the new sign is being haunted, unknown persons from the area recently attempted to pull it down before it was brought back by city government.
And according to social media comments, many Kenyans still believe COTU boss Francis Atwoli – upto now – does not deserve any recognition from the State since he had done nothing for this country.
“Congratulations Kenyans.. let it be pulled down,” Eugen Keragori posted on Facebook comments sections.
Further, among the public figures who wanted the signpost brought down is city lawyer Ahamednasir Abdullahi who promised to help foot legal expenses for activist Boniface Mwangi if he helps bring it down.
At some point, Mr. Mwangi visited the area to bring it down but met resistance from a group of goons who had been hired to man the place.
The COTU boss, while reacting to the burning incident, cursed those behind the activity terming them vandals who will never have peace.
“It will haunt for life those who are behind it. For how does it benefit them? How do you sleep at night knowing you are a vandal?” he tweeted on Tuesday morning.
The road in Kileleshwa was formerly named Dik Dik Road.
