Tuesday, December 5, 2023 – Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakango today Tuesday pleaded guilty in court and was freed on a sh 500,000 cash bail. The magistrate also gave her a sh 2 million bond following fraud charges she is accused of since 2016 by a private complainant. Ms Nyakango was today charged with conspiracy to defraud operating a SACCO without a licence and forgery in a Mombasa court. She was arrested while attending a public seminar in Mombasa. Tuesday, December 5, 2023 –Detectives have arrested Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang’o over alleged public complaints. The State official was arrested in Mombasa for complaints filed against her in 2016 with her arrest having been confirmed by the Deputy Director of Public Prosecution, Jacinta Nyamosi. The Controller of Budget is accused among eleven others who are set to face charges bordering on fraud and operating unlicensed SACCO. The public prosecution office also listed other offenses which included forgery and being in possession of false documents against Section 353 of the Penal Code.
