BREAKING: Siaya becomes the first County Assembly to pass the BBI Bill

Wednesday, February 3, 2021 -News reaching this desk shows Siaya County Assembly has just passed the Building Bridges Bill emerging as the number County to kickstart the journey to a Referendum.

Orange Democratic Movement ODM party leader Raila Odinga and his newly found friend President Uhuru Kenyatta have been out there talking to their troupes to pass the Constitution of Kenya 2020 Amendment Bill which was recently forwarded to the assemblies by the electoral body, the IEBC.

The Wafula Chebukati led Commission made this possible after it approved the more than 1 million signatures setting stage for the County Assemblies to take over the next role .

Not more than 25 Assemblies are required to pass the Bill and the Referendum will be home and dry.

To make the process flow smoothly, Mr. Odinga and Kenyatta have promised MCAs their long-awaited car grants what pundits now think is a classic way of melting their hearts on the Bill.

“There is every justification for MCAs to get the benefit because Members of parliament are also getting it. It is neither a bribe nor a crime,” Raila said.

Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta both argue that the BBI will help the country solve the many shortfalls that have been around for decades including inequalities and electoral injustices.
