Former Youth and Gender Principal Secretary Lilian Omollo has been awarded only sh 1 by a Nairobi Labour Court.
Amollo who was erased from State’s payroll after her boss President Uhuru Kenyatta replaced her position, had sought redress through court which has issued the controversial compensation ruling.
“The petitioner was not subjected to due process, nor was she given reasons for the removal from office under the hand of the President. She was ingeniously notified that her tenure had ended because a replacement had been appointed,” Justice Radido said.
According to the judge, Kenyan constitution requires government to follow due process of law whirl dismissing a government official from duty as per Article 236 of the Constitution.
On the same note, the judge told Amollo that the sh 1 was enough for her dismissal since she was facing graft accusation that she is yet to battle successful.
Amollo has to convince the court that her immense wealth was acquired legally and explain every cent that was discovered in her banks accounts.
According to the Nation Africa, the ex-government official is protesting the verdict by the High Court which found that she was in possession of proceeds of crime held in her many bank accounts an amount that was totals to sh 33 million.
