Saturday, April 15, 2023 –Ex-Chief pathologist, Kenya, Mr Alex Olumbe has been confirmed dead at the age of 60.
The medic passed away on Wednesday April 12 while undergoing specialized treatment at a hospital in Brisbane, Australia.
A family member told The Standard on Friday April 14 that he has been ill for some time but official medical report will be out in due course.
“He has been ill for some time. We received news of his death two days ago. As a family, we are still waiting for more details from the hospital,” he said.
Some reliable sources speaking on account of anonymity confirmed that the renowned doctor died from vicious colon cancer.
“We are at a loss. He was a charming person and a man of few words. We will remember him as a disciplinarian who valued education,” Frank Aunda, the family spokesperson remarked.
The deceased served as the Chief Government Pathologist from 1998 to 2001 before relocating to Australia for a similar work. He has been living and working in Aussie City for now over 20 years.
He also served as Forensic Pathologist Minister in the Health Department from 1993 to 1998.
Academically, the late held a Master’s and a Bachelor of Science in Surgery from the University of Nairobi UoN.
