Sunday, January 30, 2022 –Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family to prepare to hand back any piece of land they seized from Kiambu locals during the Mau Mau days.
Speaking in their UDA Party Kirinyaga rally on Saturday January 29, the outspoken lawmaker who was once President Kenyatta’s personal assistant in 2000s said they expect the president to outline plans on how his family will be handing back tract of land grabbed from locals.
“We have so many questions Mr President that we would like you to answer. Please don’t take long. If it’s possible please come next week,” he remarked.
Gachagua also took issue with Uhuru over his plans to force Odinga to the people of Mt Kenya when he has a deputy who successfully supported him in two consecutive elections.
“Mr. President, I want to say this, we were with you in 2002. We were with William Ruto and Musalia Mudavadi. We tried all ways but it could not work.
“How do you intend to force Raila on the people of Kenya. If it could not work 20 years, just how do you intend to go about it? I don’t understand,” Gachagua observed.
He charged that the Mt Kenya Region was eagerly waiting for Mr. Kenyatta who has promised to start official campaigns in the region.
The vocal MP also pointed out that it was very disheartening for the president to shun the community for nine years only to start talking about visiting the region again during this electioneering season.
“We welcome you, we are waiting for you on the ground. Don’t take long. We have missed you. Since we elected you, you deserted us and joined hands with Raila. Come home and explain what went wrong,” Gachagua went on.
The Ruto ally said Uhuru was a true definition of a betrayer after falling out with his deputy and threatening to spill the beans to the public over what exactly transpired between them.
“We elected you when you had been accused at the International Criminal Court (ICC). Why are you accusing other leaders and when you had been accused by white people, God helped you and we prayed for you,” he also remarked.
Echoing same sentiments, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro asked the head of State to be ready to tell Mt Kenya residents what happened that forced him to neglect them.
