Saturday, June 15, 2024 –Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has, today, named the few individuals surrounding the President who have been fighting him in government.
Remembering the events that led to his nomination as the running mate to the then deputy president William Ruto in 2022, the DP today Saturday June 15 highlighted, blow by blow, how a clique close to the president has never moved on since his nomination to deputise Ruto.
“That small group has not moved on and they are yet to accept this reality. This politics you see here, its that small group that has regrouped again to fight me.
“They even chased my wife Dorcas who had come in Karen days before I was nominated by Ruto to be his running mate,” noted DP Gachagua.
Running Mate
In his version of what happened in the United Democratic Movement UDA Party when Ruto was in search of his running mate in the last general election, same individuals tried to come up with fake theories that, should Ruto pair up with Gachagua, they were poised to lose the elections to Azimio la Umoja candidate Raila Odinga who was with Martha Karua as his running mate.
Gachagua recounted how the said group poisoned Ruto with lies and propaganda that he(Gachagua) was not learned and also doesn’t know how to dress.
“These same people had told Ruto all manner of lies about me but, luckily, Ruto who was almost buying their idea had a second thought and decided on me,” noted DP Gachagua.
The DP has told those fighting him that some of them were not there to help mobilise votes for President William Ruto then.
“I mobilsed for UDA and we won all seats in Mt Kenya same to Rift Valley where independent candidates were a problem. I went there and brough order,” he added.
Presidential Debate 2022
On the presidential candidates debate, the DP said, the ‘poisonous clique’ had also told Ruto that he couldn’t address national issues on Tv in English; only for him(Gachagua) to show up in the debate which he claims to have’ wiped the floor’.
Speaking today in Mt. Kenya where he led a series of stopovers on his way to the Kenya Youth Empowerment Forum at the Nyeri National Polytechnic, the second-in-command said some bloggers and hangers-on at the presidency want to tell him what to do and what not to do.
The remarks coming weeks after he had also accused the same individuals of going around the Mt. Kenya Region to water down his presence.
