Sunday, April 18, 2021 -Paul Koinange’s sister Lennah Wanjiku Mbiyu has been fronted by family to replace the late.
Sources who have talked to Homenews.co.ke, confirmed that Wanjiku is the last born child in the family of the late Senior Mbiyu Koinange who was minister in the Kenyatta regime.
As of now, atleast 20 aspirants have shown interest in the position left vacant by MP Paul who succumbed to Covid-19 virus last month March 31 while at Nairobi Hospital.
Also in the list, according to our sources, is Mr. Kariri Njama, Koinage’s fierce opponent in the last elections. Sources claimed that he could replace the late if he pulls his cards well since he did not lose by a bigger margin in the last polls.
Wanjiku, cousin to Jeff Koinange of Citizen Tv, on her part, is already putting together resources to Marshall support for her bid. Consequently, it will not be a hard task for her because of family goodwill and brand name which is already acceptable in their area.
Her name was fronted on Saturday April 17 during a special family gathering that also saw Nyanza delegation pay a visit to the family to mourn the late Paul.
A member from the family disclosed that, out of a long list of all family members who wanted to vie, Wanjiku emerged top hence the choice to throw weight behind her.
“We heard there are nearly 20 people who want Paul’s seat, and in our family, there were over 10 people. We continued sieving and settled on Lennah to be our flagbearer yesterday (Friday, April 16),” stated the kin.
On her behalf, she thanked those who recognised her ability in politics which makes family’s blood career.
