Wednesday, June 19, 2024 –Amani National Congress ANC Party is now going to merge with the ruling United Democratic Alliance UDA Party ahead of 2027.
In their Wednesday June 19 announcemnet to the media and the public, ANC Party leader Issa Timamy, confirmed the merger saying this will necessitate the two parties to go into the next general election with a single formidable outfit.
Mr. Timamy said they held a meeting at the Statehouse where this agreement was finally reached at with both parties willing to come up with one force.
“The conversation today is therefore within our party rules, the conversation today is one whose time has come,” Mr. Timamy said.
Timamy advised their members to remain prepared to join the larger community of UDA-ANC formation.
“The first anchor or pillar is merger by amalgamation which is our preferred merger process by this our respective ANC and UDA will form a new political party which we shall all join as members,” stated Timamy.
Former party leader, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who was also present at the Statehouse meeting today, supported the move and reminded supporters that he had to relinguish the party to Timamy so that to eliminate the conflict of interest between him and President William Ruto’s national agenda after he had appointed him to the Prime Cabinet post.
Majority Leader also Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah, on his part, stated that the merger was prompted by the relations between UDA Party members and those in ANC.
These developments coming at a time, the ruling UDA Party is facing alot of in house wrangles among key members.
On the receiving end in Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who is rumoured to be preparing to quit the Ruto wing; something he has trashed as not true.
