Sunday, January 17, 2021 -Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party elected Senator James Aggrey Orengo has lashed out at President Uhuru Kenyatta for what he termed ‘disrespect to law’.
Orengo who was addressing Siaya residents over the weekend noted that for any person regardless of his status in the community to disregard a court order was the greatest crime on land.
In a video recording released to the media, he added that adherence to Court Orders is always key in strengthening both government and private institutions. Anything else, would turn the Judiciary into just puppets that no one will ever listen to anyday.
He said this turns to worse when a siting head of State goes ahead to help in cultivating a culture of ignoring court verdicts.
“If you are not careful there is going to be a conflict just because we disregard the law. I want to appeal to President Uhuru Kenyatta, as they work together with Raila, to know that democracies are stronger when the institution of justice is strong.
“And that requires them to comply with court orders. Whether you like it or not, comply and then appeal just like ordinary Kenyans do,” said Orengo.
Just days ago, Retired Chief Justice David Kenani Maraga claimed through a series of interviews that, was it in developed nations, Mr. Kenyatta would have been impeached by now for his continued disobedience to court processes.
He added that by only that, it made enough reasons to be declared a leader without integrity and therefore not worthy of mentioning as the head of State.
According to Maraga, Uhuru has ignored so many Court Orders including that of appointing the 41 Courts of Appeal judges.
