Thursday, May 6, 2021 -Just a day after Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo was removed from the powerful Justice and Legal Affairs Committee, Senator James Orengo has come out to warn ODM from further intimidation.
Lawyers Orengo and Amollo have been vocal calling for further review of the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill of 2020 which they claim was biased towards Mt. Kenya Region.
The duo are on record claiming that, legally the Parliament and the Senate must be allowed to look into the document, scrutinize and make corrections required before a final vote.
And speaking today Thursday May 6 on the floor of the Senate, The Raila Odinga ally(Orengo) who has since drifted away from the that circle, stated firmly that he will not be moved by any other outside force adding that he will remain firm in discharging his oversight role as provided in the Constitution.
Lawyer Orengo in a blow by blow account of the current BBI events, aimed his gun at certain powerful forces who want to use threats to force the Senate through unorthodox means to vote otherwise.
“I can never be intimidated in my political life because I have seen powerful people come and go, I have seen Presidents come and go. If my day comes I will accept it, but my conscience, the way I was brought up I can never sell it, I would never,” Orengo added.
However on Wednesday May 5 evening, ODM Party announced that Orengo would not be touched in the ongoing purge against those who are not pushing party’s aspirations.
Spokesman Dennis Onyango released a statement refuting the roumour that they are planning to also remove Orengo from office.
