Sunday, June 20, 2021 -Details have emerged on how Mt. Kenya Region is finally gravitating towards Raila Odinga after decades of rejection.
Reports about President Uhuru Kenyatta having called Raila and ordered him to cut short his Coastal tour so as to preside over a business leaders’ meeting in Mt. Kenya is a sure pointer that the Region is now ready to embrace the Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party leader Raila Odinga.
The Standard Digital reported that Kenyatta who is currently in Turkey phoned Mr. Odinga and asked him to represent him in a meeting where Mt. Kenya billionaires and elders were in attendance. In the Friday June 18 meeting, Mt. Kenya Region powerbrokers assured Mr. Odinga of their support in 2022. The media reported how they promised him ‘total cooperation’.
“It’s time Raila Odinga is given some time to rule. Central Kenya has been demonizing Odinga as a demon who can’t be forgiven. Let’s trust this man and see what he can offer to his people.” Mr. David remarked.
Another Kikuyu businessman recounted how Mr. Odinga supported Mwai Kibaki in 2002 without conditions. That even after Kibaki had sustained injuries in an accident, the former premier – honestly – still delivered the seat.
“Raila Odinga supported President Mwai Kibaki in 2002 without minding how he was. After suffering an accident in Ukambani, president Kibaki was confined in bed. Something that forced Odinga to take charge and delivered the seat. Mount Kenya region, please stand with Raila” posted Debra.
David further added that President Kenyatta had alreday made his mind towards Odinga and he will stand with him to the end with tours slated to kick off immediately.
Homenews.co.ke can learn that in the said Friday meeting Mr. David Murathe, MP Maina Kamanda, Peter Kenneth and Polycarp Igathe were also present.
These is happening after Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju had told media about their plans to field a common candidate with ODM Party.
