Thursday, September 1, 2022 –Among the errors found in the ballot papers scrutinized for Supreme Court evaluation include omission errors.
In the exercise that kicked off yesterday Wednesday august 31, it has been found that some 34A Forms were not filled as required. Some ballot papers were also not sealed perfectly.
Moreover, it has been noticed that in some instances, there were missing voters physical register and lack of stamps.
In Majengo Polling Station, stream 1 had no Form 34As while in Stream 2, Form 34A was found blank without stamping.
A mile away in Mvita Primary School, Stream 5, there were found two Forms 34As contrary to how it is stipulated in any election exercise.
As some Forms 34As were signed by IEBC presiding officers and deputies and candidates agents as it is called for, some other forms were found not signed by all parties.
This specific exercise was being undertaken under a very strict police surveillance. Also present was Registrar of the Supreme Court, Letizia Wachira alongside other staff members.
“We direct the Inspector General of Police in liaison with the Registrar of this Court to provide adequate security during the exercise of scrutiny,” Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu had asked in court.
The boxes under scrutiny were fetched from Mvita Constituency, Mombasa County in Majengo and Mvita primary schools polling stations.
Deadline for this report is today September 1.
