Saturday, September 4, 2021 -Sharon Otieno’s mother Melida Auma has joined United Democratic Alliance UDA Party for her 2022 political contest.
She is planning to vie for the Homa Bay Town West Ward seat on the DP William Ruto’s UDA Party; a move she has defended by saying ODM would not have given her that chance if she asked for one.
In her explanation, Raila Odinga’s ODM-allied politicians made very many promises to her but which they didn’t fulfill following the brutal murder of her daughter Sharon Otieno that saw Migori Governor Okoth Obado implicated.
Speaking about the murder of her daughter, ODM-allied leaders who came to condone with her family during the burial promised to push the case through but ended up abandoning her along the way never to show up again.
“I would have wanted ODM, but it is very difficult to get a ticket there. Furthermore, leaders from ODM who had vowed to stand with us before Sharon’s burial abandoned us immediately we lowered her body into the grave,” Auma told journalists.
She claimed that not even a single MP in ODM Party picks her calls today whenever she wants any support during her costly court appearances in Nairobi.
She is now preparing to run for a Member of County Assembly MCA seat so as to support herself as well as help the less fortunate in the society.
“I decided to try the MCA seat because I want a better life for my children and grandchildren. It is tough, but I will try,” Auma remarked.
Reports have it that Auma was among the 13 individuals who were arrested last week after they were busted holding illegal political gatherings against the laid down Covid-19 protocols.
