Tuesday, December 22, 2020 -Embattled Mike Mhbuvi Sonko has moved to Court with an aim to stop any plans to hold a by-election.
On Monday December 22, the ex-city Governor through his lawyers went to court to secure orders against plans by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC to run elections after his unceremonious impeachment.
Court papers seen by Homenews desk indicated how Mr. Sonko filed a petition against the Senate which recently upheld his removal.
His December 17 impeachment and which was made possible by only 27 Senators has since rendered the bossy politician powerless; to his shock.
He was accused of gross violation of County management rules and procedures as well as gross misconduct and abuse of office.
Nairobi County has since been handed over to the Assembly Speaker Benson Mutura who was on Monday sworn into office in the acting Capacity awaiting 60 days of by-election that will usher in a new County boss.
“You have elected me to various positions in the city, and I have never failed you. This will not be the first time,” Mutura assure Nairobi residents.
He also promised to make sure his county government relationship with the Nairobi Metropolitan Service led by General Mohammed Badi is revived for development reasons.
