Thursday, February 4, 2021 -Current crop of leaders are not only arrogant but also disrespectful. President Uhuru Kenyatta has claimed.
Speaking in the first Anniversary of the late president Daniel Moi which was held at Moi’s Nakuru Kabarak home, Mr. Kenyatta mentioned how the late served diligently under his father Jomo Kenyatta for many years.
He praised the late Moi saying he was a charismatic person who served in the capacity of a vice president with humility for a staggering period of 17 years.
Uhuru also noted that never at any point did Moi show an open appetite for the top seat when Kenyatta was still alive.
“He was respectful and served my father diligently until his time came to serve. He led Kenyans for 24 years as President and left power with dignity (in 2002),” Uhuru said.
Mr. Kenyatta went on to state that Mzee Moi showed respect to his immediate predecessor Mwai Kibaki despite Kibaki not being his preferred candidates in 2002.
“When I was elected as President in 2013, I found it hard to visit Moi as he used to stand up in his old age to welcome me,” Kenyatta recalled.
According to Mr. Kenyatta, Moi during his retire, always recognized the fact the he(Kenyatta) was the commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and a sitting head of State.
“The arrogance we see in today’s leadership raises many questions on the future of this country. Moi had strength which he drew from his humility,” Uhuru noted.
It is obvious that Uhuru was indirectly speaking about his Deputy William Ruto with whom they have seemingly fallen apart.
