Former Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto has come out to apologise on behalf of their Kalenjin community after DP William Ruto’s top ally’s hurled insults at President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family.
Isaac Rutto took it upon himself to ask Kenyatta family and the entire Agikuyu community to forgive their sons for overstepping their mandate especially after Kapsaret legislator Oscar Sudi and Emurua Dikir MP Ng’eno had uttered abusive words at Mama Ngina, mother to president Uhuru Kenyatta.
And speaking on Wednesday Sept 9th, Rutto said remarks by two the MPs who are very close to deputy president should be ignored so that Kalenjins and Kikuyus can continue fostering unity towards 2022 elections.
He said this was not the official position of their community since it is not culture in Kalenjin to abuse people who are of age.
Rutto also observed that such utterances did not depict the true picture of the kind of leadership this country was looking for after Uhuru is done with his administaion.
“We were shocked and surprised and we never expected that to come from them since they have never come into close contact with the Kenyatta family,” Ruto said.
Rutto was speaking this while addressing a press conference at his Tumoi home in Chepalungu where he also noted that the utterances were painting his Kalenjin community as people who don’t love peace and who also don’t have respect to others.
“As leaders from the community we want to sincerely apologise to the nation at large, the family of Kenyatta and anyone to whom utterances were directed at or may have offended,” he stated.
But even as he was speaking this, defiant Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi continued standing firm by saying he was not going to be intimidated to apologize for anything since there was no sin he had committed just by mentioning Mama Ngina’s name in his recent speech.
